Rubric Builder

Build a grading rubric with criteria rows, performance levels, and point values; edit every cell inline, then export a printable PDF or a CSV file. Everything runs in your browser and nothing is uploaded.

Tip: click any cell to edit its description. Max points: 0

How It Works

A rubric is a grid that makes grading consistent and transparent. Each row is a criterion (what you are judging), each column is a performance level (how well it was met), and every level carries a point value. The cell where a criterion meets a level describes what that level of work looks like.

  1. Name your rubric at the top; this becomes the heading on the printout and the CSV filename.
  2. Add performance levels (columns) such as Excellent, Proficient, Developing, and Beginning, and set the points each is worth.
  3. Add criteria (rows) such as Thesis, Evidence, or Organization; enable Weight criteria if some rows should count more than others.
  4. Fill in each cell with a short description of the work at that level.
  5. Export: use Print / PDF to save or print a clean grid, or Export CSV to open the rubric in a spreadsheet.
  6. Reuse it: save the rubric as a named template in your browser and load it again next term.

Max points is the sum of the highest level value across all criteria (multiplied by each criterion's weight when weighting is enabled). Templates and presets are stored locally in your browser only; clearing site data removes them.
